The Crystal Growing Challenge

The Crystal Growing Challenge

The Crystal Growing Challenge 2017

Join the challenge and grow a single crystal of potassium alum over the summer. Present your crystal to be judged on Saturday, October 7th as part of the Lancaster Fun Palace weekend activities. The judges will consider the crystal’s clarity, size and shape; the biggest crystal may not necessarily win.

Potassium alum is a low hazard chemical, making this challenge suitable for all ages. However, supervision is recommended for the younger challengers due to the handling of hot liquids.
